  • FFMpeg Android Stagefright SIGSEGV error (h264 decode)

19 avril 2013, par Sergey Ochkur

I need to decode h264 file to YUV on Android 2.3+. As I understand I need to communicate with Stagefright, as it`s the only way now, after closing access with OpenMAX IL implementations. I have used FFmpeg 0.10 (and tried 0.9/0.9.1..) for this issue, compiled it with NDK7 (and also tried NDK6b with the same result) :

ffmpeg version 0.10 Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the FFmpeg developers
     built on Jan 28 2012 14:42:37 with gcc 4.4.3
     configuration: --target-os=linux --cross-prefix=arm-linux-androideabi- --arch=arm --cpu=armv7-a --sysroot=/home/grid/Android/Android_NDK/platforms/android-9/arch-arm --disable-avdevice --disable-decoder=h264 --disable-decoder=h264_vdpau --enable-libstagefright-h264 --prefix=build/stagefright/armeabi-v7a --extra-cflags='-Iandroid-source/frameworks/base/include -Iandroid-source/system/core/include -Iandroid-source/frameworks/base/media/libstagefright -Iandroid-source/frameworks/base/include/media/stagefright/openmax -I/home/grid/Android/Android_NDK/sources/cxx-stl/system/include -march=armv7-a -mfloat-abi=softfp -mfpu=neon' --extra-ldflags='-Wl,--fix-cortex-a8 -Landroid-libs -Wl,-rpath-link,android-libs' --extra-cxxflags='-Wno-multichar -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti'

usage: ffmpeg [options] [[infile options] -i infile]... {[outfile options] outfile}...

    Hardware : Beagleboard-Xm + TI Android 2.3 (official)

So, entering next command give me error with 480p :
    ffmpeg -i /sdcard/Video/480p.mp4

    Stopped (signal) ffmpeg -i /sdcard/Video/480p.mp4

Full Android "answer" from ADB Logcat :
    http://pastebin.com/76JLgtXX

Android-developers, does anybody know what this error means and how to deal with it ?
I tried to make DSP window bigger, but with no luck.
Commands like "stagefright /sdcard/Video/480p.mp4" works fine.

P.S. Additionally I found that on some bigger files (720p) Android answers next :

    [libstagefright_h264 @ 0xd479b0] Decode failed : 80000000

  • ffmpeg returning nonsense [closed]

    7 février 2012, par Mario

    I use this command

    ffmpeg -i X.mpg -b 533k –vcodec h263 -ac 1 -ab 48k -acodec aac -strict experimental -s 352x288 X.3gp

from cmd to convert file X from mpg to 3gp. I even used this yesterday and it worked.
Today I decided to improve the command :

    ffmpeg –i X.mpg -b 1000k –r 25 –vcodec h263 -ac 1 -ab 15750 –ar 8000 -acodec libopencore_amrnb -s 352x288 X.3gp

Now ffmpeg is completely screwed up, it returns garbage like

[NULL @ 02EFF020] Unable to find a suitable output format for 'ÔÇôvcodec'
    ÔÇôvcodec: Invalid argument

    or

[NULL @ 02CBEA80] Unable to find a suitable output format for 'ÔÇôi'
    ÔÇôi: Invalid argument

even if I use the first command, which it worked and now, on the same file, in the same directory, with a new fresh ffmpeg executable from the same archive I extracted it before, it doesn't convert anymore.
If I type a nonexistent file as input, ffmpeg gives

[NULL @ 02CBEA80] Unable to find a suitable output format for 'ÔÇôr'
    ÔÇôr: Invalid argument

I really don't know what to do. Looks like something really basic has been changed...

  • Port r17546 from Tremor ; although pieces had made it over to libvorbis, a comprehensive

    3 février 2012, par Monty
Port r17546 from Tremor ; although pieces had made it over to libvorbis, a comprehensive
port and verification was called for. This patch provided some additional floor0
    hardening :

floor0 code could potentially use a book where the number of vals it
needed to decode was not an integer number of dims wide. This caused
it to overflow the output vector as the termination condition was in
    the outer loop of vorbis_book_decodev_set.

None of the various vorbis_book_decodeXXXX calls internally guard
against this case either, but in every other use the calling code does
properly guard (and avoids putting more checks in the tight inner
    decode loop).

For floor0, move the checks into the inner loop as there’s little
    penalty for doing so.

[an equivalent change was already in libvorbis, but I’ve
    harmonized the code with tremor]

For floor0, move the checks into the inner loop as there’s little
penalty for doing so. Add commentary indicating where guarding is
    done for each call variant.
