FFmpeg not encoding with libx264 library
29 octobre 2011, par bOkeifusHey people of StackOverflow. I have been having a strange issue that I'm not exactly sure what's going on. I am using FFmpeg to convert any incoming video files to h264 mp4 files using the libx264. This is the log that I get from running this line of code :
ffmpeg -y -i vdoname.flv -acodec libfaac -vcodec libx264 -sameq vid.mp4
This is the log output after running the line :
FFmpeg version SVN-r13428, Copyright (c) 2000-2008 Fabrice Bellard, et al.
configuration: --prefix=/usr --disable-static --enable-shared --enable-gpl --enable-nonfree --enable-pthreads --enable-liba52 --enable-liba52bin --enable-libamr-nb --enable-libamr-wb --enable-libfaac --enable-libfaad --enable-libfaadbin --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --disable-network --disable-ipv6 --disable-ffserver --disable-ffplay
libavutil version: 49.6.0
libavcodec version: 51.57.0
libavformat version: 52.14.0
libavdevice version: 52.0.0
built on Feb 17 2009 09:01:13, gcc: 4.1.2 20071124 (Red Hat 4.1.2-42)
Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 1000.00 (1000/1) -> 49.92 (599/12)
Input #0, flv, from '/html/video/937.flv':
Duration: 00:00:10.08, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 48 kb/s
Stream #0.0: Video: flv, yuv420p, 720x480, 49.92 tb(r)
Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 22050 Hz, stereo, 48 kb/s
Output #0, h264, to '/html/flvideo/new_937.mp4':
Stream #0.0: Video: libx264, yuv420p, 720x480, q=2-31, 200 kb/s, 49.92 tb(c)
Stream #0.1: Audio: libfaac, 22050 Hz, stereo, 64 kb/s
Stream mapping:
Stream #0.0 -> #0.0
Stream #0.1 -> #0.1
[libx264 @ 0x11d58b0]using cpu capabilities: MMX MMXEXT SSE SSE2 3DNow!
Press [q] to stop encodingCan someone please help me out and tell me what to do to get this to work ? I guessed that the libx264 external library is not installed but it doesn't exactly say that in the log file and it looks as if it does find it but then doesn't actually encode the video.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

FFmpeg can 'encode' to mp3, but will not accept an 'input' mp3
21 novembre 2011, par Jonathan CoeFYI : Fedora 8 running on Amazon EC2...
Having a difficult time with FFmpeg doing a (what should be pretty simple) conversion. I can get FFmpeg to encode an mp3 file from an m4a file using the following :
ffmpeg -i file1.m4a -acodec libmp3lame -ab 160k file2.mp3
However, I cannot get it to to convert an mp3 -> mp3, it responds with "Unknown Format" using the following :
ffmpeg -i file1.mp3 -acodec libmp3lame -ab 160k file2.mp3
I get the following command string :
FFmpeg version UNKNOWN, Copyright (c) 2000-2008 Fabrice Bellard, et al.
configuration: --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib --shlibdir=/usr/lib --mandir=/usr/share/man --incdir=/usr/include/ffmpeg --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libtheora --enable-libfaad --enable-libfaac --enable-libgsm --enable-libxvid --enable-libx264 --enable-liba52 --enable-liba52bin --enable-pp --enable-shared --enable-pthreads --enable-gpl --disable-strip

file1.mp3: Unknown formatAny help would be hugely appreciated !
Edit for clarity :
The input file is in /ebs/queue/input.mp3 and the output is /ebs/converted/output.mp3 -
Using FFMpeg with Runtime.exec() to do a simple transcoding
1er novembre 2011, par Adam IngmanssonI know there are many questions touching this subject, but none have helped me solve my issue.
Purpose :
Transcoding a video taken,from a queue, from .mov to h.264 (for now only that)
Solution :
Building a java application that gets the next in the queue, transcodes it then repeat
Problem :
Running ffmpeg using Runtime.exec() is not working.
Im using the StreamGobbler from this tutorial to capturing the output from the process.This code shows how i start my process :
String[] command = new String[]{"./ffmpeg/ffmpeg","-i",videoFile.getPath(),"-vcodec","libx264","-fpre",preset,folder + recID + ".flv"};
System.out.println("Running command..");
Process p = r.exec(command);
// any error message?
StreamGobbler errorGobbler = new
StreamGobbler(p.getErrorStream(), "ERROR");
// any output?
StreamGobbler outputGobbler = new
StreamGobbler(p.getInputStream(), "OUT");
// kick them off
errorGobbler.start();
outputGobbler.start();
//logProcessOutputAndErrors(p);
int res = p.waitFor();
if (res != 0) {
throw new Exception("Encoding error: "+String.valueOf(res));
}and this is the current modified version of StreamGobbler (the important part)
InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
String line=null;
int c = 0;
StringBuilder str = new StringBuilder();
while (true) {
c = br.read();
}Sometimes ffmpeg just stalls, maybe waiting for my input (although there is no indication on screen).
Sometimes it just ends.
Sometimes (when I added the line "System.out.print((char) c) ;" in the while-loop above) i got loads of "¿¿ï" repeated over and over again, wich might be the actual encoding of the video wich I managed to capture instead of to a file.
For those who wonders why i dont just go with a commandline or maybe even php :
The purpose is an application that will run 24/7 transcoding anything and everything from a queue. The files are pretty large to begin with and takes about 15 min to transcode.
