  • FFMPEG Compilation and Video Thumbnail Issues [on hold]

    2 janvier 2016, par P. Paul

    I have compiled FFMPEg on a Linux, Centos machine according to the guide in here https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/CompilationGuide/Ubuntu , and the auto video thumbnail creation command in here https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Create%20a%20thumbnail%20image%20every%20X%20seconds%20of%20the%20video

    The problems are...

    1- When I use ffmpeg or ffmpeg -version command to check if ffmpeg has been installed I get the error message, "Command not found". But when I check for ffmpeg directory "~/ffmpeg_sources" is found and the machine says, "is a directory".

    2- Also, I did a test and upload video to the site to see if the video’s thumbnail will be automatically generated, but it didn’t show any thumbnail.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance !

  • FFMPEG documentation example for chromakey doesn't work for green background png file

    15 septembre 2021, par JPM

    Im new in FFMPEG and I try to make just simple green background chroma keying of png images.
In FFMPEG documentation in 38.16 Chromakey - there is an example script :

    ffmpeg -i input.png -vf chromakey=green out.png

    for which is said that "Make every green pixel in the input image transparent"
That exactly what i wanted.
I tried with many different png images but the result is always a copy of input image.
Also i replaced the word "green" to 0x00FF00 or 0x008000 and still no successes. Only when replacing green to black and then the result is as expected - transparent.
Im working on Windows with pre-build binaries of FFMpeg.
What am I missing ?
Thanks.

  • SOLVED - FFMPEG 'Fontconfig error : Cannot load default config file' error Windows

    27 février 2019, par Merel

    I am trying to make a short video in FFMPEG, where a word stays on screen for the duration of the video (0.5s). My FFMPEG code looks like this :

    ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf "drawtext=fontfile= ‘c\:\Windows\fonts\calibri.ttf':fontsize=18:  fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text='word'" output.mp4

    However, I keep getting the following error (see below for full output) :

    Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file
    [Parsed_drawtext_0 @ 000001c2918cef00] Using "C:/Windows/fonts/mingliub.ttc"

    I figured it had something to do with the path to the font file. I also tried copying the font file to my FFMPEG map and map the font path to the FFMPEG directory :

    ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf
    "drawtext=fontfile=‘C:\FFMPEG\bin\calibri.ttf':fontsize=18:
    fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text='word'" output.mp4'

    This doesn’t work either. I do get an output video.mp4 video, but the font is wrong. Here is the full output I get. It is the same for both code examples above :

    c:\FFMPEG\bin>ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf "drawtext=fontfile= ‘c\\:\\\Windows\\\fonts\\\calibri.ttf':fontsize=18:  fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text='word'" output.mp4

    SOLVED ! Apparently the problem was that the path to the font cannot contain a semicolon (i.e., "C :/". The code that worked is :

    ffmpeg -f lavfi -i color=c=white:s=320x240:d=0.5 -vf “drawtext=fontfile= /Windows/fonts/calibri.ttf:fontsize=18: fontcolor=black:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=(h-text_h)/2:text=word” output.mp4
