  • To all Matomo plugin developers : Matomo 4 is coming, make your plugin compatible now

    6 août 2020, par Matomo Core Team — Development

    We’re planning to release the first beta of Matomo 4 in a few weeks. For making it easy for Matomo users to be able to upgrade to this beta, it would be great if as many plugins on the Marketplace as possible would be already updated and compatible with Matomo 4. Then many users would be able to upgrade to the first beta without any issues.

    Presumably, as you put your plugin on our Marketplace, you want people to use it. Making your plugin compatible with Matomo 4 helps ensure that people will be able to find and keep using your plugin. If your plugin is not compatible with Matomo 4, your plugin will be automatically deactivated. We’ll be happy to help you achieve compatibility should there be any issue.

    How do I upgrade my Matomo to Matomo 4 ?

    If you have installed your Matomo development environment through git you can simply checkout the Matomo 4 branch “4.x-dev” by executing these commands :

    • git checkout 4.x-dev
    • composer install

    Alternatively, you can also download the latest version directly from GitHub as a zip file and run composer install afterwards.

    How do I upgrade my plugin to Matomo 4 ?

    While there were many breaking changes in Matomo 4, most of our Platform APIs remain unchanged, and almost all changes are for rarely used APIs. Often to make your plugin compatible it will just be a matter of adjusting the “plugin.json” file (as mentioned in the migration guide).

    You can find all developer documentation on our developer zone which has already been updated for Matomo 4.

    How do I know my plugin changes were released successfully ?

    If you have configured an email address within your “plugin.json” file, then you will receive a confirmation or an error email within a few minutes. Alternatively, you can also check out your plugin page on the Marketplace directly. If the plugin release was successful, you will see additional links below the download button showing which versions your plugin is compatible with.

    What it looks like when your plugin is compatible with multiple Matomo versions

    How can I downgrade to Matomo 3 or switch between Matomo 3 and Matomo 4 ?

    To downgrade from Matomo 4 to Matomo 3 :

    When will the final Matomo 4 release be available ?

    We estimate the final stable Matomo 4.0.0 release will be released in approx. 3 months.

    What’s new in Matomo 4 ?

    We don’t have a summary of the changes available just yet but you can see all closed issues within this release here.

    Any questions or need help ?

    If you have any questions, or experience any problems during the migration don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We’ll be happy to help get your plugin compatible and the update published. If you find any undocumented breaking change or find any step during the migration process not clear, please let us know as well.

    Thank you for contributing a plugin to the Marketplace and making Matomo better. We really appreciate your work !

  • How can I schedule a YouTube livestream entirely from Linux ?

    25 avril 2021, par Dale Wellman

    I have a setup on a Raspberry Pi (with its native camera) that uses a cronjob to start an ffmpeg session with its output streaming to YouTube. I re-use the same stream key each time, which is written into my ffmpeg scripts. This all works perfectly each week, automatically starting and stopping at the desired time.
However, each week PRIOR to that livestream, I have to "manually" go into YouTube Studio and "schedule" a new future event. This is easy enough, since it lets me "reuse" previous settings — all I have to change is the Title, date, and time. But I would love to figure out a way to automate that part of the process, as well. I assume it involves using the YouTube Data API, but I'm not well versed in API's, JSON, etc.
(I do have a strong Linux background, bash scripting skills, and general programming background.)

    My final solution just needs to :

    • create the new scheduled event (maybe 12 hours prior to going live), with Title, Date, Time, "Unlisted" status, category, and so forth — all the usual settings I do manually within Studio
    •

    • retrieve the assigned URL for the upcoming stream (my script will then email that to me)
    •

    So, basically, I'm asking for help getting started with the API, or whatever method is capable of doing this. I would prefer to code it on the same Pi that does the ffmpeg encoding (although in a pinch, I could create the schedule from another computer, even Windows). Any examples would be great.

    So far, all I have done is create my Google project, enable the YouTube Data API in the project, and create my API key. But I'm not sure where to go from there.

  • I have installed FFMPEG and can't find it inside a PHP script

    14 novembre 2019, par Antop

    I have installed FFMPeg in CentOS. It works perfectly.
    It’s inside /usr/bin directory. Also, I have PHP 7.2.24 that comes with Plesk 18.0.20.

    I want to use FFMPeg inside a PHP script, but that script can’t find the executable of FFMpeg. I have tried giving the exact route (/usr/bin/ffmpeg) but doesn’t work.

    It’s a production server. The same script, in my development server (macOS) works perfectly.

    I tried using :

    var_dump(getenv('PATH'));
    var_dump(exec('which ffmpeg'));
    var_dump(ini_get('open_basedir'));
    var_dump(is_file(exec('which ffmpeg')));
    var_dump(is_executable(exec('which ffmpeg')));

    And it returns me :

    string(49) "/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin"
    string(0) ""
    string(44) "/var/www/vhosts/name-of-the-domain.com/:/tmp/"
    bool(false)
    bool(false)
    NULL

    ¿What could be happening ?

    A very strange thing I’ve noticed is that I can’t access any command via php :
    I tried using it with echo

    var_dump(exec('which echo'));
    var_dump(is_file(exec('which echo')));
    var_dump(is_executable(exec('which echo')));

    And it returns me :

    string(0) ""
    bool(false)
    bool(false)
    NULL

    And the permissions are right :

    [root@vps bin]# ls -lha echo
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 33K ago 20 08:25 echo

    [root@vps bin]# ls -lha ffmpeg
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 217K abr  4  2019 ffmpeg

    But if I make a

    var_dump(exec('echo "HELLO"'))

    it returns me

    string(5) "HELLO"
