  • which video format is bessed for flat graphical animations

26 avril 2020, par Zarc Rowden

If i were to create an mp4 out of an svg animation, much of the color data in the output is the same, in PNG compression you can significantly reduce file size by reducing color. What I love about PNG is that the images always have a beautiful flat color / consistent look to them as opposed to jpegs which look very messy after antialiasing etc. (in the case of graphics to clarify). My feeling about .mp4 is that the compression technique results in frames that look "messy" like jpegs do when representing flat graphics or text. Is there a better codec out there ? Is this what webm does well ?
Thanks in advance for the input !

  • GStreamer vs FFmpeg [closed]

    13 août, par user1129474

I'm trying to record a Video with the OpenCV Framework and would like to save it into an Matroska(mkv) Container together with some additional data streams.

First I thought using FFmpeg is the way to go.
But while looking into the OpenCV Source code and searching on the web I found GStreamer.

Because the documentation in GStreamer is much better than the FFmpeg documentation I would prefer using this Framework.

In my understanding GStreamer is primarily used for Streaming, but could also recode and mux video data.

Is there any disadvantage when using GStreamer instead of FFmpeg ?

    Thanks in advance
Horst

  • Muxing only audio into MP4 ffmpeg failed

9 août 2015, par Kaidul Islam

I am trying to write audio encoded packets into a MP4 container.I have followed this sample code and instead of creating dummy frame, I am feeding real G.711 PCMU encoded frame into ffmpeg. The writing seems working and file size is increasing, but the mp4 is not playing using ffplay or in VLC player.

    Thanks in advance !
