    The zip file provided here only contains the sources of MediaSPIP in its standalone version.
    To get a working installation, you must manually install all-software dependencies on the server.

    Today FFmpeg-mt, the multithreaded decoding branch, has been merged into FFmpeg. This has been a long awaited merge, and we would like to thank Alexander Strange for his patience and hard work.

    ... what is to be expected of ffmpeg -thread usage ? Is this an under-the-hood transition or are ffmpeg users supposed to move their code to ffmpeg-mt to leverage multi-cores ?

  • Incorrect AVFrame nb_samples when decoding MP3

    Using ffmpeg 3.4.4 that ships with my distro, I’m having a problem decoding mp3 files. The decoder is working correctly for flac and m4a.

    I’ve seen two problems that I believe are related, both have to do with determining the number of samples in the file.

    When opening a file I use the following sequence of API calls :

    avformat_open_input(...);
    
avformat_find_stream_info(...);
    
avformat_find_best_stream(...);

    At this point the AVStream I have, unlike in cases for flac and m4a, the nb_frames field is not equal to the number of samples. Instead I have to use time_base and duration to compute the number of samples.

    When decoding the file I’m avcodec_send_packet and avcodec_receive_frame. The AVFrame that gets populated has an incorrect value for nb_sample such that after reading the entire file, I only wind up decoding about 4% of the samples.

    What is the correct way to decode mp3 files with ffmpeg ?

    I’m struggling with this issue since a couple of days.
    I’m trying to convert an mkv movie and ffmpeg fail with this error when he try to write to the *.ts file.
    I have tried the same command on many hosts (Mac, CentOS, Unraid) but the results was the same. Here the command :
