once long ago in the deep blue below

00:00:12,360 --> 00:00:14,370
Don't be silly, Gran Mother

3
00:00:14,870 --> 00:00:16,700
Everybody knows there's no such thing as

4
00:00:16,700 --> 00:00:17,200
Mermaids

5
00:00:17,620 --> 00:00:21,570
You wouldn't say that if you has meet one. You've meet a Mermaid

6

9

Would witches working mummies. No not like this

You shouldn't be here

18

Mermaids do not exist

19

Look isn't it beautiful? Sorry I have to go.

20
00:01:35,340 --> 00:01:48,570
Elizabeth, How can this be? It's Lock he knows i'm here he summoned me.

We have to save here.

I am trying to replicate this with FFMpeg. I have tried the following command.

ffmpeg -i little-mermaid.mov -i little-mermaid.srt -c copy -c:s webvtt -start_number 0 -hls_time 10000 -f hls mermaid/Eng/master.m3u8

This creates a WebVTT file but it is completely wrong and out of sync. See below.

All the times have changed and it's removed the first two digits from each section.

I am trying to decide if it just makes sense to convert the .srt to WebVTT and use that file without encoding with FFMPEG just create a .m3u8 file with -hls_flag single_file that points to it but not sure what implementation this might cause.

Can anyone suggest how I could do this or where I might be going wrong ?

Here is the video file I am using if anyone wants to run the FFMPEG command above to test.

Convert image sequence to video using ffmpeg and list of files
13 juin 2020, par rensaI have a camera taking time-lapse shots every 2–3 seconds, and I keep a rolling record of a few days' worth. Because that's a lot of files, I keep them in subdirectories by day and hour :

images/
 2015-05-02/
 00/
 2015-05-02-0000-02
 2015-05-02-0000-05
 2015-05-02-0000-07
 01/
 (etc.)
 2015-05-03/

I'm writing a script to automatically upload a timelapse of the sunrise to YouTube each day. I can get the sunrise time from the web in advance, then go back after the sunrise and get a list of the files that were taken in that period using
find
:

touch -d "$SUNRISE_START" sunrise-start.txt
touch -d "$SUNRISE_END" sunrise-end.txt
find images/"$TODAY" -type f -anewer sunrise-start.txt ! -anewer sunrise-end.txt

Now I want to convert those files to a video with
ffmpeg
. Ideally I'd like to do this without making a copy of all the files (because we're talking 3.5 GB per hour of images), and I'd prefer not to rename them to something likeimage000n.jpg
because other users may want to access the images. Copying the images is my fallback.

But I'm getting stuck sending the results of
find
toffmpeg
. I understand that ffmpeg can expand wildcards internally, but I'm not sure that this is going to work where the files aren't all in one directory. I also see a few people usingfind
's--exec
option withffmpeg
to do batch conversions, but I'm not sure if this is going to work with image sequence input (as opposed to, say, converting 1000 images into 1000 single-frame videos).

Any ideas on how I can connect the two—or, failing that, a better way to get files in a date range across several subdirectories into
ffmpeg
as an image sequence ?

FFmpeg - center crop image overlay
21 juillet 2020, par ClassAHere is the information about my input files, player and command I'm using :

-

- Input Video Dimensions = 1080 x 1920
- Input Image Dimensions (overlay - Red in image) = 1080 x 1794
- Player dimensions (Black in image) = 1080 x 1794
- Video size (scaled to fit in player - Blue in image) = 1010 x 1794

My current command is :

-ffmpeg -ss valueLeft -i inputVideo -i inputOverlay -t to -filter_complex scale=playerWidth:trunc(ow/a/2)*2,overlay=(main_w-overlay_w)/2:(main_h-overlay_h)/2 -c:v libx264 -preset ultrafast outputPath

The
playerWidth
is the width of the video, scaled to fit in the player (blue/video in the image above).

The problem I have is that the video is scaled inside the player to fit inside the player, this means that I might have values like
999
.

To counter this, I can change the width to 998 or 1000, but the overlay image will be out by one pixel. I know one pixel is not a lot, but in my use case, it has to be precisely the same as it was in the player.

Besides that, the video aspect ratio will also change when doing this.

My question :

How can I center crop the overlay, despite the size of the video or the overlay image, to get the following result :

EDIT :
It would be great if I could instead use the video's original dimensions and crop the overlay (if it is bigger than the video).
