• How to divide my video horizontally using ffmpeg (without any other side-effects) ?

  I am processing my video(640 X 1280 dimensions). I want to divide my video horizontally into 2 separate videos(each video will now be 640 X 640 in dimensions),then combine them horizontally (video dimension will be now 1280 X 640)in a single video. I did the research on the internet and my issue was solved and not solved at the same time

  


  I made a batch file and add these commands in it :-

  


  ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -filter_complex "[0]crop=iw:ih/2:0:0[top];[0]crop=iw:ih/2:0:oh[bottom]" -map "[top]" top.mp4 -map "[bottom]" bottom.mp4
ffmpeg -i top.mp4 -i bottom.mp4 -filter_complex hstack output.mp4


  


  Yes,my task got solved but many other issues also came out of it :-

  


  1.) My output video has NO audio in it. No idea why there is no audio in the end results

  


  2.) My main video file (on which I am doing all this) is 258 MB in size. But the result was only 38 MB in size. No idea what is happening ? And even worse,I closely looked at the video,results were pretty same (only animation were not as smooth in output file as compared to input file)

  


  3.) It is taking too much time(I know that computing takes some time but maybe there may be some way/sacrifice to make the process much quicker)

• Writing metadata (Artist Name, Song Title, Year, Album, Duration, Genre) to mp3/m4a audio file using youtube-dl (subsequent AtomicParsely error)

  I am extracting audio only from youtube videos using youtube-dl. I would like to write the metadata (i.e. Artist Name and Song Title, Year, Album, Duration, Genre) into the mp3/m4a file after downloading. My attempt to accomplish this starts with this code :

  As you can see, I am able to successfully able to add a few of the tags from the video, but not all of them and the Year is royally screwed up.
  

  What is this AtomicParsely error and how do I remedy it ? Do I need this program to correctly add all the Metadata to the file that I want, or can this be accomplished in another way ?

  Referencing Steven Penny’s post, FFmpeg metadata not showing in Windows ?, is solving this problem as simple as using an ffmpeg command ?

  When I do a google search for this song, the first link that shows is the exact link I’m using on YouTube, and the search shows pertinent metadata (see below). I’m not sure if this data is input manually by users, or if Google mined this from the video :

• Why does Android kill a process spawned by the developed application ?

  I have a weird problem that I posted as a comment in Understanding Android Tight loops / Spin-On-Suspend error without any useful further comment.

  Let be here the reproduced comment :

  Is it possible for this to be happening also to android native codes, abstracting
  
   which piece of software would be causing it? It's the only reason I know ffmpeg 
  
  (static binary custom compilation, n2.0.1 tag mint as it clones) is failing to me
  
   on some devices and not in others (but fails in no device when launched over a v
  
  algrind!! that, am now supposing, traps frequently the inner program)

  The problem, briefly, is that a compiled ffmpeg n2.0.1 is running OK in emulator and a Sony device, but failing with a segmentation violation in a Samsung device. The program was ran then from valgrind in that Samsung device, with no fail.

  • I have some clues about what could be happening here. But do you know what is happening ?
  • Can this Samsung phone run this ffmpeg compilation the same good the emulator and the Sony phone do ? If not, what are the next steps (trying - when possible - to avoid the use of the NDK) ?
