ffmpeg, live MPEG-TS demux & decode
8 mai 2017, par NadavRubEnvironment
- Ubuntu-14
- C++
- ffmpeg
Use-case
- Live SPTS is received via UDP by a 3rd party module
- TS Packets are received iteratively
- The TS Video (ES) should be decoded in minimal latency
Considered Implementation
- Upon TS packet reception, immediately push it to the TS demux
- Once enough packets are received the video format is resolvable, create the video codec
- Push each video packet into the video decoder
- Once enough video packets were processed the video codec result a valid output frame
Problem at-hand
Can this be done w/ ffmpeg ?!?!, … using “avformat_open_input” mandate a file to read from… I need a way where I can iteratively push packets to the TS demuxer ( w/ minimal latency )…
Does ffmpeg support the above mentioned use-case ? How ?

Real time compression/encoding using ffmpeg in objective c
20 février 2014, par halfwaythruI have a small application written in Objective-c that looks for the video devices on the machine and allows the user to record video. I need to be able to compress this video stream in real time. I do not want to save the whole video, I want to compress it as much as possible and only write out the compressed version.
I also don't want to use the AVFoundation's build in compression methods and need to use a third party library like ffmpeg.
So far, I have been able to record the video and get individual frames using 'AVCaptureVideoDataOutputSampleBufferDelegate' in this method :
- (void)captureOutput:(AVCaptureOutput *)captureOutput
didOutputSampleBuffer:(CMSampleBufferRef)sampleBuffer
fromConnection:(AVCaptureConnection *)connectionSo I have a stream of images basically, and I want to throw them into ffmpeg (which is all set up on my machine). Do I need to call a terminal command to do this ? And if I do, how do I use the image stack as my input to the ffmpeg command, instead of the video. Also, how do I combine all the little videos in the end ?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks !

Adding FFMPEG support to Chromium Portable on Windows without recompiling
13 décembre 2023, par AshbyI am using Chromium portable on Windows recently.

I downloaded Chromium portable from chromium.org, finding it without FFMPEG support, which means playing media just not possible for some websites.

Is there a simple or a little complex hack or plugin or patches to make FFMPEG on Chromium portable from chromium.org work ? Thanks.

Due to personal reasons I am not intended to use Google Chrome for some months, due to its automatic updates something like Windows Update, making me annoyed.

On Linux, I know there is a package called
chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra
, which makes FFMPEG support possible. But I do NOT find something similar on Windows.

Recompiling Chromium costs hours and I just do not want to use some third-party Chromium releases due to security requests.

Years have gone and past questions years ago on stackflow just not cater my need today.

Thanks for your patience & understanding.
