  • Call system package with Go on App Engine Standard

    8 novembre 2019, par reidreid46

    I’m trying to use FFmpeg in a Go application thats running on Google App Engine Standard. I can get this to run locally, when I point to a local instance of the FFmpeg binary using exec.Command()

    cmd := exec.Command(
       "/Users/justin/Desktop/conversion/ffmpeg", // this won't work on a remote server
       "-i", "pipe:0",
       "-ac", "1",
       "-codec:a", "libmp3lame",
       "-b:a", "48k",
       "-ar", "24000",
       "-f", "mp3",
       "pipe:1",
     )

     cmd.Stdin = bytes.NewReader(synthResp.AudioContent)

     var output bytes.Buffer
     cmd.Stdout = &output
     err = cmd.Run()

    Obviously, this won’t work when I deploy the application, so I need a way to point to a hosted version of the FFmpeg binary. It seems ffmpeg is a system package for the go1.11 App Engine Standard environment.

    What are "System packages" and how do I use them ?
    When I look for documentation, I find a lot of documentation on apt-get, and no documentation on how to use them, App Engine or otherwise. Do I need to install it, or should it already be part of the container(?) that App Engine is running ?

    Do I call it, like I’d call other executables ? If so, that I’d expect this to work, but it doesn’t

    cmd := exec.Command(
       "ffmpeg", // <------ what should this be?
       "-i", "pipe:0",
       "-ac", "1",
       "-codec:a", "libmp3lame",
       "-b:a", "48k",
       "-ar", "24000",
       "-f", "mp3",
       "pipe:1",
     )

     cmd.Stdin = bytes.NewReader(synthResp.AudioContent)

     var output bytes.Buffer
     cmd.Stdout = &output
     err = cmd.Run()

    Logging err, I see exec: "ffmpeg": executable file not found in $PATH

  • Unreal Engine & ffmpeg - gdigrab worked on version 4.21 but not 4.23

    11 décembre 2019, par Zurdge

    Problem -
    ffmpeg outputs black window ( apart from mouse position ) rather than capturing the UE4 display.
    It is running in windowed mode at 1280x720 resolution.

    related -
    https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/7718
    "I would guess that gdigrab can’t capture windows that use hardware acceleration to render themselves.
    It would seem odd that calc.exe uses the GPU, but it wouldn’t surprise me either."

    I’m using simple commands to call ffmpeg and capture a window.

    ffmpeg -f gdigrab -framerate 30 -i title=MyUE4App -f mpegts -codec:v mpeg1video -b:v 600k -bf 0 http://localhost:8080/mystream

    This works and captures all UE4 projects built in 4.21
    .. but not anything created in 4.23 :/

    Does anyone know a reason as to why it might not capture the window image ?
    Was something added to the newer version which I can disable ?

  • How to install ffmpeg on Google App Engine ?

    3 mai 2020, par UtkuBulkan

    I intend to install ffmpeg and ffprobe to my Google App Engine flex environment, how can I do this with requirements.txt as a package ?

    I am currently using ffmpeg-python yet, this is only a wrapper.

    ffmpeg-python==0.2.0
ffprobe-python==1.0.3

    Below is the error when I try to use ffmpeg-python wrapper, which is expected as there is no ffmpeg and ffprobe available :

    Can you please suggest a way, so I can use ffprobe on Google App Engine.
