• convert and delete mkv files with ffmpeg

  I have a server running Ubuntu 14.10 and Plex streaming to a PS3. Anyway, some files are mkv’s and they’re choking on transcoding. So, I’ve got ffmpeg and I’d like to go through all the subdirectories of the high level media folder and convert any mkv’s to mp4’s for streaming.
  I’ve experimented with some bash scripts I’ve found on the internet but have had mixed results.

  Any thoughts on how to do this ? I know there’s a command-line-fu, one-liner that can probably do it. Maybe something like find all the mkv’s in the subdirectories with find and then somehow passing that to a bash for loop ?

• libx264 encoder error in ffmpeg android build

  Right now, I have a ffmeg build script which recognizes libx264 and compiles succesfully. I have also compiled x264 and obtained libx264.a library. Both ffmpeg and libx264 are built from source. I can build ffmpeg without libx264 succesfully as well. Below you may find my script which tries to build ffmpeg with libx264.

  Above script doesn’t give me libx264.a in ffmpeg output builds.Several other scenarios are as follows.
  If I enable x264 encoder, I get undefined reference errors to some variables in x264.c (in libavcodec).
  If I enable shared in ffmpeg configure, I get an error which says it can’t cd to my prefix directory (no permission issues by the way).

  I am using latest releases of ffmpeg and x264 (cloned the git today) and ndk 7. Ubuntu runs on VM, installed on Windows 7. For further details about my adventure of ffmpeg/x264 porting to Android, you may refer here.

  What should I do to use libx264 with ffmpeg ? I kept on trying this script with different configurations, removed all ffmpeg x264 folders and reinstalled them, but to no avail.

• how to convert 1,000,000 gifs into a video file using ffmpeg

  i have 1 million gifs in a folder that i would like to convert into a 60 frames per second video file using ffmpeg. Here is my code :

  ffmpeg -r 60 -pattern_type glob -i *.gif -c:v libx264 out.mp4

  my gifs don’t follow a %07d.gif pattern like 0000001.gif 0000002.gif but they are indeed in sequential order. like this : img1.gif, img2.gif ... img10.gif ... img10000.gif ... img1000000.gif.

  When i try to execute my code i get this :

  -bash: /usr/local/bin/ffmpeg: Argument list too long

  please help. thank you.
