Other interesting software
13 avril 2011, parWe don’t claim to be the only ones doing what we do ... and especially not to assert claims to be the best either ... What we do, we just try to do it well and getting better ...
The following list represents softwares that tend to be more or less as MediaSPIP or that MediaSPIP tries more or less to do the same, whatever ...
We don’t know them, we didn’t try them, but you can take a peek.

ffmpeg unique frames only
5 novembre 2013, par WilliamI have a video sequence (MPEG1) of 30 fps that is decoded in two ways :
-
opencv_ffmpeg returns 30 images per second, but only 5 of them are unique, while all others are clones of the unique ones.
-
proprietary players (MediaPlayer) returns only the 5 unique frames and "holds" them for (1/5) sec each.
Is there a way to grab only the unique frames that the coder knows and not the total amount the ffmpeg decoder produces to fulfill the fps rate ?
I'm developing a tracker and my tracker is forced to run 6 times slower and do many mistakes due to these "cloned frames".
Does anyone know any technical term to the problem ? Unfortunately, ffmpeg is a black box for an opencv user and the documentation is sparse.

video hosting with PHP api or PHP script for social network project
17 avril 2014, par al404ITI have a project for a small social network where user can upload their videos, video should not be longer than 1 or 2 minutes but they need to be private and related to user that uploaded.
Since uploaded video may be in many different format I have two options :
-
upload video and use ffmpeg to process them, can i find any PHP script that does that ? PROS I have my files on my server and I'm not dependent from third party CONS I guess is a real intensive task and I may need a quite good noting plan since the beginning of this project
-
use a video hosting service that provide API to upload and process video, i actually find vzaar.com that may seems to do what I need. PROS Scalable CONS I rely on third party for my contents
since the project is a small social network it may be interesting this too opusphp.com, but i never user or read about
can Vimeo PRO suite my needs ? Other suggestions ?
In future it may be necessary to add a basic video editing function to trim uploaded video setting starting and ending point -

FFmpeg : Encode x264 with AMD GPU on Windows ?
20 septembre 2023, par ZeroTekI am currently trying to record a Video on my Lenovo Laptop with its Built-In Webcam using FFmpeg on Windows 10. One of my goals is to keep the CPU Usage as low as possible, that's why i want to push the h264 encoding to the GPU.
Now it gets a bit tricky here with my Laptop. Because it uses two GPUs. The first GPU is a Intel HD 5500 Graphics Unit as Part of the CPU. This one is most likly used for non-demanding Applications like office etc. to save Energy. The other one is a AMD R5 M330 that will be used for graphic intense applications like gaming.

Currently, i am using the following command to encode the Webcam Stream on the Intel HD GPU :

ffmpeg -f dshow -vcodec mjpeg -video_size 1280x720 -framerate 30 video="Lenovo EasyCamera":audio="Mikrofon (Realtek High Definition Audio)" -c:v h264_qsv -g 60 -q 28 -look_ahead 0 -preset:v faster -c:a aac -q:a 0.6 -r 30 output.mp4

This does work so far but it seems this GPU does not have enough Power to keep up with the framerate on higher bitrates or with a high amount of i-frames. The Video starts lacking and skipping frames. If i am using CPU encoding everything works smooth.

Now that my Laptop got that second AMD GPU with a lot more Power it would be a nice Try to encode on that one, but i can't find any information about how to encode on AMD Hardware on Windows 10. So my question is : How does the ffmpeg command look like to use AMD Hardware for h264 encoding ?
