  • Use ffmpeg to watermark and scale an image on video

    11 mai 2015, par Ae.

    I want to be able to watermark videos with a logo image, which contains a website url.
    The videos can be of different formats and dimension.
    I’m trying to figure out a generic ffmpeg command to achieve it, so that i don’t have to tweak the command depending on the video i have to process.
    So far i got :

    ffmpeg -i sample.mov -sameq -acodec copy -vf 'movie=logo.png [watermark]; [in][watermark] overlay=main_w-overlay_w-10:main_h-overlay_h-10 [out]' sample2.mov

    In this way though the logo will look too big or too small with video of different size.
    I’ve seen there is a scale option for avfilter, but I haven’t figure out whether it’s possible to resize the image logo based on the dimension of the input video, so that I can say to scale the logo to 1/3 of the video length for example, and keep the image ratio.

    Any idea ? doesn’t need to be done in a single command, could even be a script.
    thanks in advance.

  • When converting .mov to .flv video plays horizontally

    2 janvier 2014, par user291247

    When I record a video (.mov) through my iPhone it display vertically which is right.
    But after converting the .mov to .flv(using ffmpeg) it displays horizontally.

    My code :

    function convert_flv($vidtime,$infile, $outfile, $w = 0, $h = 0, $extra_infile = '', $extra_outfile = '') {
       $parms = '';
       if($w == 0 && $h == 0) {
           //$parms .= '-sameq ';
       } else {
           $parms = '-s {$w}x{$h} ';
       }

       if($vidtime==60) {
           $cmd = ffmpeg($infile, $outfile, $parms.' '.$extra_infile, '-t 00:01:00 -ar 22050 -r 15 -f flv  '.$extra_outfile);
       } else {
           $cmd = ffmpeg($infile, $outfile, $parms.' '.$extra_infile, '-t 00:04:00 -ar 22050 -r 15 -f flv  '.$extra_outfile);
       }

       print_r($cmd);
       return $cmd;
    }
  • Split video file from 'n' th frame to end of video in Linux

    17 novembre 2011, par Skkard

    I need to split a video file using frames as the measure, e.g. I need to save the part of the video from the 34th frame to the end of the video in Linux( specifically fedora 16, xfce, 64bit ).

    I've tried using ffmpeg, using the '-vframes' option to specify how many frames to save, but it starts from the beginning, so is not that useful. How can I start from a certain frame in between the video and save the video from there to the end in a new file.

    I know about the '-ss' option, but while converting number of frames to the specified time, there might be errors( or so I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong ) due to rounding.

    Could you please suggest a method ? Thanks !
