How to list all audio devices that are enabled and present for recording the output audio of the pc ?
23 juin 2023, par Daniel LipI want to record with ffmpeg later the entire desktop including audio.
I want to make that it will find for me automatic the recording audio device.

I'm using MMDeviceEnumerator.

all the other ways I tried returned empty list returned 0 audio devices. I tried with naudio and ffmpeg

public Form1()
 {
 InitializeComponent();

 InitializeRecordingIndicator();

 MMDeviceEnumerator enumerator = new MMDeviceEnumerator();
 foreach (MMDevice device in enumerator.EnumerateAudioEndPoints(DataFlow.Capture, DeviceState.All))
 {
 StreamWriter w = new StreamWriter(@"d:\audiodev.txt", true);
 cmbAudioDevices.Items.Add(device.FriendlyName);
 w.WriteLine(device.FriendlyName + " " + device.State);
 w.Close();
 }
 }

This is the list of all my audio deviceso n my system.
but they are all not present or disabled. and i have audio on my pc i can hear games videos anything.

so what would i select from this list as audio device for recording the pc output audio ?
or maybe i need to find another way to find the right audio device ?

this is how i tried with naudio but it didn't working it didn't find anything. :

using NAudio.Wave;
...

// Enumerate and list audio input devices
var devices = WaveInEvent.DeviceCount;
for (int deviceId = 0; deviceId < devices; deviceId++)
{
 var deviceInfo = WaveInEvent.GetCapabilities(deviceId);
 Console.WriteLine($"Device ID: {deviceId}, Name: {deviceInfo.ProductName}");
}

before that i tried with ffmpeg but also it didn't return anything :

public static class FFmpegHelper
 {
 public static string[] GetAudioCaptureDevices()
 {
 string ffmpegPath = @"C:\path\to\ffmpeg.exe";
 Process process = new Process();
 process.StartInfo.FileName = ffmpegPath;
 process.StartInfo.Arguments = "-list_devices true -f dshow -i dummy";
 process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
 process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardError = true;
 process.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
 process.Start();
 process.WaitForExit();

 string output = process.StandardError.ReadToEnd();
 string[] lines = output.Split('\n');
 var devices = lines.Where(line => line.Contains("audio")).Select(line => line.Trim()).ToArray();
 return devices;
 }
 }

using it :

var audioDevices = FFmpegHelper.GetAudioCaptureDevices();

h264_qsv is choppy when live streaming [closed]
10 septembre 2023, par Devin DixonI am trying to do live streaming of video games using h264_qvs, but is choppy when compared to libx264. Here are some variations of the ffmpeg command I am running :

Variation 1

ffmpeg.exe -y -hwaccel qsv -i pipe:0 -vf "hwdownload,format=nv12" -c:v h264_qsv -video_size 1920x1080 -preset veryfast -global_quality 35 -look_ahead 0 -b:v 9000k -maxrate 12000k -bufsize 9000k -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 60 -g 120 -c:a aac -b:a 256k -ac 2 -ar 44100 -af afftdn -f tee -map 0 "[f=flv]rtmp://endpoint.example.com|[f=mp4]C\:\\Users\\me\\savedFile.mp4"

Variation 2 : Moved the scale inside the vf

ffmpeg.exe -y -hwaccel qsv -i pipe:0 -vf "hwdownload,format=nv12,scale=1920:1080" -c:v h264_qsv -preset veryfast -global_quality 35 -look_ahead 0 -b:v 9000k -maxrate 12000k -bufsize 9000k -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 60 -g 120 -c:a aac -b:a 256k -ac 2 -ar 44100 -af afftdn -f tee -map 0 "[f=flv]rtmp://endpoint.example.com|[f=mp4]C\:\\Users\\me\\savedFile.mp4"

Variation 3 : Using scale_qsv and removed -pix_fmt yuv420p

ffmpeg.exe -y -hwaccel qsv -i pipe:0 -vf "hwdownload,format=nv12,vpp_qsv=framerate=60,scale_qsv=w=1920:height=1080" -c:v h264_qsv -preset veryfast -global_quality 35 -look_ahead 0 -b:v 9000k -maxrate 12000k -bufsize 9000k -r 60 -g 120 -c:a aac -b:a 256k -ac 2 -ar 44100 -af afftdn -f tee -map 0 "[f=flv]rtmp://endpoint.example.com|[f=mp4]C\:\\Users\\me\\savedFile.mp4"

Variation 4 : Best Variation but still subpar to libx264, lag is 1 minute 30 seconds

ffmpeg.exe -y -hwaccel qsv -i pipe:0 -vf "vpp_qsv=framerate=60,scale_qsv=w=1920:h=1080" -c:v h264_qsv -preset veryfast -global_quality 25 -look_ahead 1 -b:v 9000k -maxrate 12000k -bufsize 9000k -g 120 -c:a aac -b:a 256k -ac 2 -ar 44100 -f tee -map 0 "[f=flv]rtmp://endpoint.example.com|[f=mp4]C\:\\Users\\me\\savedFile.mp4"

But no matter how I change it, the streaming is choppyl start/stop. What else shoud I be testing here for performance ?

Build FFMPEG with x264 for Android
26 mai 2023, par KageI am trying to build FFMPEG with libx264 for Android.

I can successfully build and use FFMPEG for Android but I realized that I need the ability to encode, therefore I am trying to build FFMPEG with x264.

I am using this tutorial to build FFmpeg for Android http://www.roman10.net/how-to-build-ffmpeg-for-android/

When trying to build FFMPEG I get an error :

"ERROR : libx264 not found"

And in my log it says :

"/usr/local/lib/libx264.a : could not read symbols : Archive has no
 index ; run ranlib to add one..."

I have the latest versions of both FFMPEG and x264.
I understand that FFMPEG looks for the header and libraries in usr/lib and usr/include, so in order to make it find x264 I use the cflags and ldflags :

-

- —extra-cflags = " -I/usr/local/include "
- —extra-ldflags = " -L/usr/local/lib "

I have tried building x264 with many different options that other people on the internet have said that i need. eg. —enable-shared, —enable-static, —disable-pthreads etc.
Some forums say enable this, others say no disable that.

Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks

EDIT :

If I build FFmpeg with the simplest commands to include libx264 then it works.
ie.

./configure --enable-gpl --enable-libx264 --extra-cflags="-I/usr/local/include" --extra-ldflags="-L/usr/local/lib" --enable-static --enable-shared

However I need it to work for Android. The script I am using is :

NDK=~/Desktop/android-ndk-r7
PLATFORM=$NDK/platforms/android-8/arch-arm/
PREBUILT=$NDK/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.4.3/prebuilt/darwin-x86

I am guessing that some option in my configure command is conflicting with enabling libx264

NOTE : If I remove —enable-libx264 then it works
