  • sorting numerically while creating video for ffmpeg [closed]

    9 février 2024, par kstn

    I have a series of figures with name particles_[time].jpg such as

    particles_0.03101765477.jpg
particles_3.1327831317.jpg
particles_6.2345486087.jpg
particles_9.3363140857.jpg

    The time is increasing but it has real values. When I used ffmpeg to generate gif with

    ffmpeg \
  -framerate 60 \
  -pattern_type glob \
  -i 'figures/particles_*.jpg' \
  -r 15 \
  -vf scale=512:-1 \
  out.gif \
;

    , the files are not read in the correct sequential order. How can I fix that ?

  • Split video with ffmpeg segment option is missing frame

    9 février 2024, par Dan

    I’m trying to get the ffmpeg “segment” option to split my video into segments at the Iframes. I'm using ffmpeg V6.1.1.

    First I added time stamps to each frame of my video so that when it plays, I can see exactly which frame is being displayed. I used this command :

    ffmpeg -i In.mp4 -vf "drawtext=fontfile='C :\Windows\Fonts\Arial.ttf' : text='%frame_num :~ %pts':fontsize=200 : r=25 : x=(w-tw)/2 : y=h-(2*lh) : fontcolor=white : box=1 : boxcolor=0x00000099" -y Out.mp4

    Then I used ffprobe to confirm that the video is 30 FPS and the Iframes are as follows :

    0.000000
4.933333
10.000000
11.533333
18.866667
24.966667

    Based on these Iframe times, I’d expect the following segments :

    Start Frame Start Time End Frame End Time
    0 0 147 4.900000
    148 4.933333 299 9.966667
    300 10.000000 345 11.500000
    346 11.533333 565 18.833334
    566 18.866667 748 24.933334
    749 24.966667 867 28.906667

    When I use ffmpeg to split the video into segments with the following command, I get six files as expected :

    ffmpeg -i Out.mp4 -f segment -c copy -reset_timestamps 1 -map 0 "Out %d.mp4"

    When I play the segments, they are all correct except the first segment file (Out 0.mp4). It seems to be missing the last frame. It contains frames 0 to 146 (4.866667 sec) but should also include frame 147 (4.9 sec). All the other segment files are as expected.

    I’ve tried this on several different mp4 videos and they all are missing the last frame on the first segments.

    Any idea why my first segment files is missing the last frame of the segment ?

    Could this be an ffmpeg bug ?

    Thanks for the help !
Dan

  • extracting video and data streams from MPEG2 TS over RTP in real-time

    10 janvier 2024, par Tejal Barnwal

    I have H264 video stream and KLV meta data encapsulated inside MPEG2 TS container which are sent over an RTP over UDP from a camera.
I intend to do the following :

    1. Extract both video and data streams from RTP
    2.

    3. Process video feed using opencv in a seperate thread
    4.

    5. process klv metadata in a seperate thread
    6.

    My problem what exact arguments should I provide to ffmpeg so as to read h264 video stream and show the images frame by frame using opencv ?

    With the help of some previous posts like Simultaneously map video and data streams to one subprocess pipeline in real-time, I was able to get some idea about how could I proceed to procees the stream over RTP.

    I started out by using the following script :

    #!/usr/bin/env python3
from asyncio import streams
from logging.handlers import QueueListener
import klvdata
import subprocess as sp
import shlex
import threading
import numpy as np
import cv2
import time
from io import BytesIO

# Video reader thread.
def video_reader(pipe):
    cols, rows = 1280, 720  # Assume we know frame size is 1280x720

    counter = 0
    while True:
        print("read image")
        raw_image = pipe.read(cols*rows*3)  # Read raw video frame

        # Break the loop when length is too small
        if len(raw_image) < cols*rows*3:
            break

        if (counter % 10) == 0:
            # Show video frame evey 60 frames
            image = np.frombuffer(raw_image, np.uint8).reshape([rows, cols, 3])
            cv2.imshow('Video', image) # Show video image for testing
            cv2.waitKey(1)
        counter += 1
        print("image showed on window")
        time.sleep(0.25)

data_thread.start()

    With the above script, I was facing two issues :

    The imshow windows wasnt updating properly ! It seemed stuck after a few frames.

    Further diving into the lane with the help of following command, I concluded that the video stream that I am reading has H264 encoding

    ffprobe -i rtp://192.168.0.141:11024 -show_streams -show_formats

    Further, in the log output, I see a lot of statements in regard to missed packets and PES packet mismatch

    [rtp @ 0xaaaaf31896c0] max delay reached. need to consume packet

    What arguments do I provide to ffmpeg and in what order because my stream 0 is metadata and stream 1 is video so as to display image frame by frame with opencv ?
I would be grateful for any help that you could provide.

    Further, I also have a query regarding how does ffmpeg know to that it has to first convert the rtp packets into mpeg2 TS packets before segregating video stream and data stream ?
