• FFmpeg settings to convert MTS into MPG for YouTube

  I would like to discuss the optimal parameters for FFmpeg to convert an MTS video file with the following profile for the upload onto YouTube. YouTube published their suggested resolutions and bitrates settings.

  // Input video profile
  
  Stream #0:0[0x1011]: Video: h264 (High) (HDMV / 0x564D4448), yuv420p, 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 50 fps, 50 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc
  
  Stream #0:1[0x1100]: Audio: ac3 (AC-3 / 0x332D4341), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16, 256 kb/s

  Since YouTube has length restrictions to the videos I also want to cut the original file into pieces.

  Here is my current configuration to convert a video. I am running Ubuntu 10.10. with FFmpeg version git-2011-12-31-81980bf.

  ffmpeg -ss 00:15:00 -i input.mts -t 00:30:00 -vcodec libx264 -deinterlace -s hd720 -ab 128k -threads 0 output.mp4

  I also want to reencode the video since I do not want to upload the large files of the original recording.

  I have ffmpeg already installed on my server for the past 6 months, everything works fine but now it seems I need libvpx to be added to it so I can encode webm files. Is it possible to add this to my current ffmpeg or does it need to be removed and rebuilt from scratch ?

  My current ffmpeg setup looks like this -

• FFMPEG - Correct command line parameters to create a H.264 Streaming MP4 from a set of images

  I have no problems viewing a video created by my current parameters in a HTML5 browser, Flash player, Windows Phone 7, Android Phone, etc. However, they won't display on iPhone or iPad. If I modify the video using Super and select "Enable Streaming" checkbox they work on iPhone and iPad suddenly. We are suspecting that my command line parameters are incorrect for enabling h.264 streaming and are instead generating a "progressive download" video.

  I'm pretty new to FFMPEG and don't understand a lot of the parameters. Can anyone help correct my existing parameters, or maybe provide the missing parameters, etc ?
