ffmpeg streaming fails to stream over internet to twitch.tv
15 avril 2021, par josh joyerI did already streaming to twitch.tv with command :

ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -i 9stream.wav
-f dshow -i audio="mic"
 -f dshow -i audio="realTek"
-filter_complex "[0:a]volume=2[a0];[1:a]volume=1.5[a1];[2:a]volume=1.5[a2];[a0][a1][a2]amix=inputs=3"
 -f dshow -i video="USB2.0 PC CAMERA"
-ac 1 -ar 11025 -acodec libmp3lame -c:v libx264 -b:v 100k -f flv -s 80x120
rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app/live_streamingKey

It was most advanced command that I used to stream online.

(I do not know how to make enter in here so I put double enter)

9stream.wav was played in loop as background music

microphone was added

stereoMix named realTek was the playback of system sounds

volume was adjusted and all sounds mixed into one stream

camera view was added

THEN network flow was reduced by sending only one channel with low frequency of 11025 with lowest

possible data size made by mp3 encoder and libx264 was used to encode video in png files.

It was working fine SO I decided to make final version

(this one worked with all sounds(background music,microphone,system sounds) and camera)

Final version was about adding screen view and logo.

I succeded writing everything to disc with command :

ffmpeg
-stream_loop -1 -i 9stream.wav
-f dshow -i audio="mic"
-f dshow -i audio="stereoMixRealtek"
-i camera.png
-f gdigrab -framerate 1 -i desktop
-f dshow -framerate 15 -i video="USB2.0 PC CAMERA"
-filter_complex "[0:a]volume=2[a0];[1:a]volume=1.5[a1];[2:a]volume=1.5[a2];
[a0][a1][a2]amix=inputs=3[aMix];
[4:v]scale=200:-1[v4];[5:v]scale=50:-1[v5];
[v4][v5]overlay=(W-w)-5:(H-h)-5[vScreenCam];
[vScreenCam][3:v]overlay=5:5[v]"
-map "[v]" -map "[aMix]" -ac 1 -ar 11025 -c:a libmp3lame -r 1 -c:v libx264 output.mkv

That was

background music

microphone

system sounds

logo picture

screen view

camera

adjusting sound volume

mixing sounds

reducing size of screen view and camera view

overlaying reduced camera view over reduced screen view

adding logo

choosing final view, final mixed sounds,

reducing data size to one channel, reducing sample frequency,

choosing mp3 codec to reduce final data size,

choosing minimal framerate of one per second to reduce data size

choosing libx264 codec for video.

THEN I tried to use final command for network streaming with slight modification :

ffmpeg
-stream_loop -1 -i 9stream.wav
-f dshow -i audio="mic"
-f dshow -i audio="stereo mix"
-i camera.png
-f gdigrab -framerate 1 -i desktop
-f dshow -framerate 15 -i video="USB2.0 PC CAMERA"
-filter_complex "[0:a]volume=2[a0];[1:a]volume=1.5[a1];[2:a]volume=1.5[a2];
[a0][a1][a2]amix=inputs=3[aMix];
[4:v]scale=200:-1[v4];[5:v]scale=50:-1[v5];
[v4][v5]overlay=(W-w)-5:(H-h)-5[vScreenCam];[vScreenCam][3:v]overlay=5:5[v]"
-map "[v]" -map "[aMix]"
-ac 1 -ar 11025 -c:a libmp3lame -r 1 -c:v libx264 -b:v 100k -b:a 10k -f flv rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app/live_streamingKey

I added parameter
-b:v 100k to reduce video flow
-b:a 10k to reduce sound flow
-f flv to be good for twitch.tv otherwise it would not accept stream

BUT ffmpeg is always stopping sending data with message like this :

Main message from above was :

[flv @ 0000009a40865940] Packets poorly interleaved, failed to avoid negative timestamp -3900 in stream 0.

It was problem to stream 0 so it was mixed sounds stream BUT earlier it was fine with mixing

and sending mix over internet BUT after I added screen view and scaling it failed to work.

What is problem ?

How to fix it ?

Since I was able to do this to stream to disc I would assume that

computer processing power is enough. Since I was able to stream over internet mixed sounds I

would assume that it is not problem here. So the problem must be with sending

screen view. BUT I put framerate 1 per second and downsized its resolution. I compressed

sounds as much as I could. I added -b:a and -b:v commands to reduce network flow.

WHAT ELSE COULD I DO TO FIX IT ?

How could I achieve a good ratio of compression and time while converting video files with ffmpeg ?
17 février 2021, par Guilherme RichterSo, I made 2 scripts that convert CCTV footage in mp4 videos. One of them is just a
-vcodec copy
and creates a mp4 with the same size of the footage (huge, btw) and my other alternative was tweak with some parameters and figure out what was the best I could do without sacrifice too much quality and make it "fast".
Then I come up withc:v libx264 -crf 30 -preset veryfast -filter:v fps=fps=20
which took something like 2 secs in my machine to run an average 6MB file and transform into a 600kB file.

Happy with the results I decided to put it on AWS lambda (to avoid bottlenecks), and then people started to complain about missing files, so I increase the timeout and the memory to 380MB. And even after that, I am still getting a few lambda errors...

Anyway, the lambda is going to cost me too much compared to just store the file without compression, there is another way to decrease size without sacrificing time ?

[UPDATE]
I crunch some numbers and even tho using lambda is not what I expected, I am still saving a lot of cash monthly by reducing the file size 10x times.

As asked, this is the logs for the ffmpeg.

ffmpeg concat demuxer dropping audio after first clip
6 septembre 2020, par marcmanI'm trying to concatenate a video collection that all should be the same type and format. It seems to work like expected when the original sources are the same type, but when they're different types the demuxer drops audio. I understand that the demux requires all inputs to have the same codecs, but I believe I am doing that already.

This is my workflow (pseudocode with Python-like for loop) :

for i, video in enumerate(all_videos):
 # Call command for transcoding and filtering
 # I allow this command to be called on mp4, mov, and avi files
 # The point of this filter is:
 # (1) to superimpose a timestamp on the bottom right of the video
 # (2) to scale and pad the videos to a common output resolution (the specific numbers below are just copied from a video I ran, but they are filled in automatically for each given video by the rest of my script)
 # (3) To transcode all videos to the same common format
 ffmpeg \
 -y \
 -loglevel quiet \
 -stats \
 -i video_<i>.{mp4, mov, avi} \
 -vcodec libx264 \
 -acodec aac \
 -vf "scale=607:1080, pad=width=1920:height=1080:x=656:y=0:color=black, drawtext=expansion=strftime: basetime=$(date +%s -d'2020-08-27 16:42:26')000000 : fontcolor=white : text='%^b %d, %Y%n%l\\:%M%p' : fontsize=36 : y=1080-4*lh : x=1263-text_w-2*max_glyph_w" \
 tmpdir/video_<i>.mp4

# create file_list.txt, e.g.
#
# file '/abspath/to/tmpdir/video_1.mp4'
# file '/abspath/to/tmpdir/video_2.mp4'
# file '/abspath/to/tmpdir/video_3.mp4'
# ...

ffmpeg \
 -f concat \
 -safe 0 \
 -i file_list.txt \
 -c copy \
 all_videos.mp4
</i></i>

In my test case, my inputs are 3 videos in this order :

-

- a camcorder video output in H.264+aac in a mp4
- an iphone video in mov format
- an iphone video in mp4 format

When I review each of the intermediate mp4-transcoded videos in
tmpdir
they all playback audio and video just fine and the filtering works as expected. However, when I review the final concatenated output, only the first clip (the camcorder video) has sound. When all the videos are from the camcorder, there is no audio issue—they all have sound.

When I output ffmpeg warnings and errors, the only thing that shows up is an expected warning about the timestamp :

[mp4 @ 0x55997ce85300] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:1; previous: 5909504, current: 5430298; changing to 5909505. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file.
[mp4 @ 0x55997ce85300] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:1; previous: 5909505, current: 5431322; changing to 5909506. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file.
[mp4 @ 0x55997ce85300] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:1; previous: 5909506, current: 5432346; changing to 5909507. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file.
[mp4 @ 0x55997ce85300] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:1; previous: 5909507, current: 5433370; changing to 5909508. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file.
...

What might I be doing wrong here ? I'm testing in both the Ubuntu 20.04 "Videos" applications as well as VLC Player and both demonstrate the same problem. I'd prefer to use the demuxer if possible for speed as re-encoding during concatenation is quite expensive.

NOTE : This is a different issue than laid out here, in which some of the videos had no audio. In my case, all videos have both video and audio.
