  • Running FFMpeg on the server (to save the user from waiting)

    26 juin 2013, par Tom

    I have made a simple page that lets a user upload videoes for then to display all the videoes uploaded using the HTML5 <video></video> tags. But to provide the user with full browser support I need to transcode all the videoes that are being uploaded into a few new formats. The problem is then that now I am transcoding all vidoes into two different formats, which in turn takes a long time and it makes the user have to wait for the video being transcoded. Is there a simple way that anyone know of that lets me run this script in "the background" so that the user experience is in no way being compromised with long wait times ?

    I am running the FFMpeg scripts using PHP with the exec command.

  • FFMPEG : how can I properly add a text overlay to my video and save it to a thumbnail ?

    12 août 2013, par AWainb

    I have a ffmpeg command that goes to a url and successfully creates thumbnails at specified intervals. What I would like to do is add the time (eg : 03:45:20) to the bottom-left corner of the video in white text with a black shadow. I have seen a few examples online with drawtext but none of them seem to work with my current command :

    C:\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe -ss 00:23:12 -i "http://myvideourl.com/videofile.mp4" -f mjpeg -vframes 1 -y C:\thumb2.jpg

    Can someone suggest how I can implement the correct drawtext filter with my current command so that it outputs the thumbnail with the duration stamped at the bottom-left corner ?

  • How to save file to s3 after processing by ffmpeg using carrierwave

    25 septembre 2013, par loganathan

    I am trying to convert the bit rate of the Mp3 file before uploading to S3, I can able to create version for the mp3 file but the version is not saving in s3 instead original file is uploading to s3.

     version :bitrate_96k do
       process :resample => "96"
     end

    def resample(bitrate)
       tmp_path   = File.join( File.basename(current_path), "tmpfile" )
       File.rename current_path, tmp_path
       audio_details  = `ffmpeg -i &#39;#{tmp_path}&#39; 2>&amp;1`.split(",").split("\n").flatten
       file_bitrate =  audio_details.grep(/bitrate/).grep(/bitrate/).join.split("bitrate: ").last.split("\s").first
       unless file_bitrate == bitrate
         `ffmpeg -i #{tmp_path.shellescape}  -acodec libmp3lame -y -ab 96k #{current_path.path}`
         File.unlink(current_path)
        FileUtils.mv(temp_path, current_path)
       end
     end
